HOW DO I PREP FOR MY COLONIC?

While there are no strict guidelines to prepare for your treatment, heres a list of best-practiced suggestions:

Avoid eating or drinking 2 hours before your colonic (although drinking water or fresh juice is not a problem)

For best cleansing results you should eliminate certain foods such as red meats and dairy, and instead eat plenty of high fiber foods 24 to 48 hours prior to the procedure

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY APPOINTMENT?

A colon hydrotherapy session is approx 45 minutes long, a complimentary chlorophyll implant is given with every treatment. The chlorophyll implant acts as a deodorizer, and helps to soften the build up on the walls of the colon. Chlorophyll also acts as a fertilizer for the good bacteria and decreases inflammation in the body.  Complementary use of inversion table is also included in your session and can be beneficial prior to colonic.   Hanging up side down increases blood circulation in the pelvic area and boosts digestion and aids in elimination. After we have discussed your pre session form were to get down to business. A small hygienic, disposable tube (called a speculum) is placed only about 2 inches into the anus while the client lays on their side .The waste hose and the purified water tube are then connected. The client lays comfortably on their back for rest of the session while water gently flows in builds some pressure until waste hose is released so natural peristalsis can take place.     Between fills we can do some abdominal massage to assist release. I stay with the client at all times  monitoring and operating the equipment, supporting the client throughout the session. Gas and waste flow through the evacuation hose through a lighted tube so we can see what is departing sometimes giving us great insight to what is going on ( ie candida, undigested food, bile,  even parasites but many are too small to see with the human eye)directly into the sewer system so there is no odor or mess. After the treatment the client will spend some time on toilet evacuating the last of the water by gravity.  Before leaving they will be given a electrolyte drink to restore mineral  hydration balance. They should  be able to return to normal routine immediately, most  people report feeling lighter more energized and happier.

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY TREATMENT?

Most people have a comfortable experience with colon hydrotherapy and after their treatment report feeling lighter with increased energy.

Rarely, one may experience minor fatigue, cramping or nausea due to the colonic stirring up old build-ups and toxins. If any discomfort takes place, it is recommended to apply a heating pad to the abdomen and rest.  Additional tips include taking a warm bath, drinking vegetable broth, peppermint, fennel or chamomile tea, and using therapeutic grade essential oil of peppermint on your abdomen. Any of these tips usually provide a soothing effect at this time, and within 24 hours any discomfort will typically pass. Your regular pattern of bowel movements may be temporarily disrupted, but will return to normal within a day or two. Some people feel slightly bloated after a colonic due to solid stool being hydrated during the treatment. This bloating normally subsides within a day or two. These would be signs that you require a follow up treatment, and the healing process has begun its sometimes referred to as the “healing crisis”

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE COLON HYDROTHERAPY?

This depends on the needs of each individual. After your first treatment, you can discuss with your therapist as to how many and how often you may want to schedule colonics. As a new patient you may wish to book a series of colonics to kick start the cleansing process and aid in a more efficient functioning of the colon, coming once a week for 3-4 weeks.  You may also choose to book only 1 – 2 colonics throughout the year. I like to recommend that a person schedule yearly appointments around the change of seasons.
While doing a cleansing program of any kind, colonics can assist your detoxification. If you are using  strong prescription drugs or have to take serval a prescriptions day a monthly cleanse might give you good benefits.

IS THERE ANYONE WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE A COLONIC?

There are certain instances when one should not have a colonic. If you have had abdominal surgery within the past 6 months, intestinal perforation, renal insufficiency, the presence of tumors or cysts, pregnancy, colon or rectal surgery,  abdominal  hernia, diverticulitis or congestive heart failure. You will be asked to fill out a form and will do a pre-session interview with me to make sure you are a safe candidate for Colonics.

WILL A COLONIC HURT?

While it's definitely a new experience for many people, most clients report the feeling as 'unusual' and sometimes uncomfortable while the body is releasing but it should never hurt. A disposable speculum is gently inserted only a couple of inches into the anus. It's normal to feel a bit of cramping similar to what you may feel when you have a bowel movement. The gentle flow of water can actually become quiet relaxing. You’re encouraged to settle in and enjoy your music selection, use the time to catch up on your latest Neflix program or surf the net. Wifi available. Some people find it more uncomfortable then others, In these cases,  I can guide you in deep relaxing breathing with peppermint oil to settle the mind and body connection while the body’s releasing.
